LARRY GRAHAM *** 1985 - FIRED UP

Larry Graham's got his bass fired up from the very first note on this set -- a bumpingly grooving set that continues his great solo soul run in the 80s! Rhythms are a nice update of the older Graham Central Station groove -- a bit more electric than before, especially on percussion -- and Larry manages to keep things warm with his strong lead vocals, which somehow sound even more confident than before. A few tunes attempt a crossover vibe, but others are the kind of bass-heavy groovers we've come to expect from Graham -- produced for the record by Larry himself, as well as Deodato and Narada Michael Walden. Titles include "For Your Love", "What We All Need Is More Love", "Nobody's Gonna Steal You Away", "How Does It Feel", "That's Why I Love You", "Tearing Out My Heart", "Let's Go", and "Cruisin".
