A great later production by Norman Whitfield -- and one that almost returns to the simpler harmony soul of 60s Motown! Masterpiece have a style that's much more fragile and sweet than other groups on the Whitfield label -- which was mostly dedicated to fuller and dancefloor soul. The harmonies here are really classic -- almost acapella inspired at times, although recorded with plenty of fuller backings arranged by Norman -- and the vocals are very upfront in the mix, and really given plenty of room to move around.
