Howard Johnson a commencé sa carrière en chantant dans les bars et les clubs locaux de Miami. C'est d'ailleurs dans l'un de ces bars qu' il a été repéré par Sandy Torano qui regardait pour constituer un groupe.En 1977, Ils ont formé Niteflyte et signé chez Ariola pour 2 albums. Il est resté avec le groupe jusqu'au début des 80's puis il signait chez A & M Records en tant qu'artiste solo. De son 1er album solo "Keepin' Love New" (produit par Kashif, Paul Laurence Jones & Morrie Brown) est sorti en 1982 'So Fine'. Le titre était particulièrement populaire au R-U, il a figuré dans le Top 50 UK,..
L'année suivante il produisait son propre album "Doin' It My Way", avant un dernier album solo chez A & M record "The Vision" (1985) qui comprenait 'Stand Up' et 'Knees' produit par Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
En 1986 il enregistre le duo 'Perfect Timing' avec Donna Allen pour son album avant de retourner chez A & M en 1989 en collaboration de Johnson & Branson, avec Regis Branson. L'album contient l'excellent 'She Still Loves Him'. Howard a continué avec plus ou moins de succés tout au long des années 90 pour se relancer en 2002, avec Regis Branson, encore, pour l'album "Packed & Waitin" sorti chez Soul Japan Records.

A marvelous duet album between Linda Clifford, a disco diva before the term was commonly used, and Chicago soul vocalist/producer/performer/composer Curtis Mayfield. The album included two chart hits in "I Just Wanna Wanna" and "Love's Sweet Sensation." It also convinced any doubters that Clifford could sing earnest, straight soul as well as pop and disco.
